The U.S. Coast Guard and the Navy was searching until early hours on Friday on October 23rd for as many as nine bodies do to a collision. This collision involved a Coast Guard plane and a Marine Corps helicopter. The crash was reported to be at 7:10pm Thursday only fifty miles off the San Diego County coast. There were seven people on the C-130 that was involved in the crash and two on the helicopter. Debris from the C-130 has been spotted by the Coast Guard. A search was planned to last though out the night, with the aid of three cutters and diverting an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to search for any survivors. The Navy assisted with four vessels and multiple helicopters.
I was so devastated to read such a thing, it is bad enough to lose our men in the war, but to lose them on a training accident brings the reality of this article to such a form I was in tears. Knowing my niece is headed for boot camp in December brings this even closer to home for me. All we can do is support our women and men over there and all those at home in all they do.
This is in regards to 9 lives affected by many, many other lives. You’re not just reading statistics your reading about 9 brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, sons or daughters, grandsons, or granddaughters, these are lives that will not return on their own, but return in the flagged draped boxes. A pilot reported seeing a fireball near where the aircraft collided, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said, and the Coast Guard informed the FAA that debris from a C-130 had been spotted. Seven people were on board the plane, a C-130, and two people were aboard the helicopter, said Petty Officer Allyson Conroy.
It saddens me to see the women and men lost in battle, friendly fire, or training accidents trying to prepare for any overseas maneuvers. Life is difficult enough as it is to try to survive during our recession age we are in, but to lose such brave souls as these men and women on a training accident saddens me more. I am comforted to know that such a search of mass proportions was launched for these unfortunate victims. We all have our opinion in regards to whether we think we should be at war still or at all. As I read more on this article from http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_midair_collision it reminded me that no one is exempt from not coming home for any reason. My prayers go out to the families of the ones we have lost in the war and in friendly fire or in training accidents.
