Body of Florida girl believed found in landfill

Located in Orange Park, Florida the local authorities have possibly found the body of Somer Thompson, 7 years of age. The identification of Somer at this time is her clothing and a birthmark, all matching the mothers’ description. Georgia Landfill is near the Florida state line and there Somer Thompson was to stay hidden until detectives spotted her legs firs and found the body partially covered in trash. The police department has questioned over, 70 registered sex offenders in the surrounding area and have records of 161 offenders that live in a five mile radius of Somers home. Laura Holt the aunt to Somer, stated, “I don’t think they deserve to live, I don’t think there’s anything worse that a person can do – to kill a child and dump her in the dump like a piece of trash?”

It scares me to death to think that people think so little of a life to treat it and dispose of it as such. The tears ran from my eyes like rain from the sky. How can someone take something as precious and innocent as a child? My thoughts haven’t changed much after reading the article in www.usatoday.com in regards this article if anything it has gotten worst.

My opinion regarding this horrible act is no different than the Aunt Laura Holt, “I don’t think here is anything worse that a person can do - to kill a child and dump it like it was trash.” How can anyone treat a child as such or just human life? The more I read this article I could feel my blood pressure raise and my face get red with anger. My thought in regards to the criminal that did such a heinous crime is that sooner or later you will make a mistake and you will be brought to justice. Not the kind of justice you deserve but the kind you have a right to. Unlike the child they killed, the murderer will have their day in court. There is no justice in this by any means. Why should we the tax payer pay to house and feed and clothe people that have no regards for human life. They should be treated as though they treated their victims.

Personally the justice system over the years has gotten too lapsed in the United States. I feel that rapist, child molesters, baby murders all should be put to death with no day in court. I don’t want to hear excuses that she had postnatal depression, and that is why she killed her baby. I don’t want to hear that his dad raped him when he was younger and he became a priest and carried on dad’s tradition. I want to see and hear raw justice for high intense crimes, involving death and rape or even kidnapping with intent to harm. Whoever came up with the concept of life in prison without parole should be shot themselves. Just put them on death row, and start cleaning house, quite lollygagging. Expecting the government and the general public to support, lodge and feed the same criminals that have inflicted such danger on their well being is ludicrous.

  1. This is a devastating story and I agree with you 100 percent. IT is so scary knowing there are crazy people in this world that do this to young children. The world isn't safe for them. I remember being a kid and stuff like this did happen but not to the extent is does now.
